What alternatives are there to Symantec Ghost for deploying a Windows XP
desktop, with a number of pre-installed applications, via the LAN?

One of my responsibilities is to maintain a computer lab with 29 systems,
and in the past we have used Symantec Ghost to re-image a system when
necessary (primarily, when replacing hard drives). Our version of Ghost is
fairly old, and I'm interested in some lower cost solutions.

Thanks!

Andrew, again, xcopy will NOT work. It does NOT copy files that are in use
or locked by the operating system. What you will get is a copy that will be
missing most of the critical Windows files, and it ***will...NOT... boot***.

Andrew

There is no message after his post.. you forgot to paste it in, which is no
bad thing as the process you would have undoubtedly outlined DOES NOT WORK
in cases like that of the OP..

For corporate or enterprise version of Ghost or TrueImage, you need pay
license for each client.

Check out the Multiple PC Image software at:

http://www.multipcimage.com

It only cost $29.95 total. Is that low enough?
