I'm always on the look out for new or better standard applications for use
with Windows XP. Recently I've tested a "Free" Firewall/Security app that
is called Online Armor. Very efficient program. After install it runs a Scan
for items to allow/block. Easy to configure and understand it's prompts. For
anyone looking for an alternate to Zone Alarm Free or Windows Firewall
this program might be an option. Adds a single new process, oaui.exe to
your system at a memory footprint of 8-12 Megabytes compared to ZA
free at 38 Megabytes of RAM. Program gives a small notification when a
program contacts the web - similar to the NOD32 update box.

Downloads page here:
http://www.tallemu.com/downloads.html

*Be sure at the downloads page to select the "Free" Version. (~15.0 Meg
as opposed to Zone Alarm Free at nearly 40.0 Megabytes.

In what way does informing XP users about an alternate "FREE" app
earn me a label of Spammer ? Maybe you should have spent more of
those sixteen years on the web doing a little research.

It's a new product, that some folks may find beneficial. Just because
you haven't heard of it has nothing to do with it's merits.

Think a bit before firing off a "Shoot-from-the-Hip", Clueless response.

That sounds interesting. One note, though: You
don't have to use the newer, bloated Zone Alarm.
You can still get v. 2.6, the first version that was
XP-compatible. The nice thing about it is that it
also predates ZoneLabs' cooperation with Microsoft.
With ZA 2.6 you can control ALL processes, whereas
the later versions allow things like svchost.exe to go
through without giving you a choice in the matter.
(Contrary to popular belief, svchost.exe does not
*necessarily* need to get online.)
