Hi All,
I did find the link
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/
but it doesn't seem to be working despite hours of trying to log in.

Newsgroups sure were nice.

Newsgroups have been replaced with web-based forums. Please visit the
Microsoft Office Forums:

Hi, Gil.

Those of us who actually USE newsgroups love them. But, sad to say, most
Microsoft employees rarely or never use them and don't understand them. Or
us. :>(

Yes, most of the Microsoft public newsgroups are closed already and the rest
of them - and this news server - will be closed by October. Our only
choices are to use the Microsoft Forums or to find a Usenet server (free or
not) that continues to carry the NGs that we need.

You will find that MOST Usenet providers still and will continue to
carry all of the previous MS groups that they carried before MS
abandoned Usenet for a method that permits them to control content.
