I have a network using ICS
1. Office computer (HOST) XP pro and ICS gateway
2. Family computer (CLient) XP family (The kids use it)
Computer 1 is configured so that i cannot connect automatic to Internet. It
also shuts down automatic after 10 minutes of inactivity..
Computer 2 connects automatically whenever it demands a connection and never
disconnects (even if computer1 is configured for disconnect at inactivity) .
The only way to stop it is to disconnect the network or the telephoneline.
(ISDN)
This is VERY annoying because it leaves me out of controll of the internet
connections and costs. If someone forgets to manually disconnect it can stay
connected for hours and hours. Potentially risky (hackers) and costly. I
also dont have any controll over programs trying to connect.
Questions:
A. How is it possible to disable automatic dialup from computer 2 (via
computer1) to Internet?
There must be an option to prompt before connection (in registry or
somewhere)
Without disabling ICs altogether.
B. How configure connection to shut down after inactivity???? (it does not
help that computer 2 is configured for shut down)
NB! This is only a problem when computer 2 has initialized the
connection!!!!
