I am trying to find a way to allow delegates of shared calendars to be able
to create Color Categories for calendar items. Once they are created as a
delegate and given permissions to the calendar, they can categorize appts,
but the buttons to rename and create categories are greyed out. Can anyone
help?

You need SendAs and ReceiveAs permissions on the shared folder, then
creating new categories should be possible. But you can't rename those
categories.

Hi Michael,

I need to create a new common Color Category in outlook client of all users
in the organisation, is their anyway so that the same can be done in Exchange
server and then replicated to all Outlook clients.

Nandish, you'd need to code the solution yourself. It can be done on the
server only for Outlook 2007 users: In each user's default calendar there's
a hidden message, which holds the Master Category List.

If a ready-to-use solution is an option for you, you could try Category
Manager for sharing your categories. For details see the link in my
signature, please.
