I rebooted my computer and now every sound is playing back
like the chimunks! Any idea on how to reset the play back
to normal play back speed?

Perhaps you've turned on WMP's Play Speed Settings? From the View menu go to
Enhancements then Play Speed Settings then click on Normal if it's not
already set to that. Hope that helps, if not, do let me know :-).
