Not sure why but I can't load or install any software to my PC. All seems to
go well until the "publishing" step on the sinstalls and then I get a message
that the install was aborted before it could be finished. This has happened
with itunes and the slingbox s/w. I've tried turning off the Windows
Firewall but that doesn't seem to work.

Make sure you are logged on as a local administrator and check the logs via
Event Viewer to see if anything is recorded as far as a warning or error
that could be related and may help solve the problem. You might also try
booting into Safe Mode and making sure that your computer is clean of
malware and spyware by scanning for both in regular and Safe Mode making
sure that whatever programs you use are updates with the latest definition
files before scanning. It would also be a good idea to check that you have
ample disk space left and running Check Disk selecting the options to fix
file system error automatically. -- Steve
