All removable media can write, but not read

About a week ago, all of my removable media stopped being
able to read. If I insert a CD-RW, a compact flash or a
floppy, Windows XP promps me to format it even though it
has data on it. I can still write to the CD-RW without
any problem, and the FDD works fine if I boot with a
bootable floppy. Any ideas?
