My friend's pc is in bad shape. All her original Windows XP components stop working. Internet EXplorer, Windows Media Player, MSN Explorer, Adobe Reader, etc etc etc. So, I have to use Mozilla, it let me download the critical updates and there were 46 of them but it froze and stopped. And ever since, it won't let me go to windows update website directly. It kept saying 'Download Internet Explorer' I can't access IE because it doesn't work. I can't even click on Windows Update in All Program either. Her System in Control Panel also doesn't work. Can't even click on it. I can't even download Norton Anti Virus. It froze. Any suggestions? She even brought the pc to someone to fix it twice but still doesn't work. They actually installed SpyKiller and said that would solve the problem??????!!!! Do I have to reinstall windows xp for her? Her pc doesn't come with the disk though Hers is HP and mine is compaq. We both use Windows XP. Can it still work if I use my disk?

1. Windows Update will only install updates if you are using Internet Explorer.
2. Your Compaq CD cannot be used with any other computer.

I have tried all that but nothing works. I tried the HP Instant Support, it won't download, it kept saying "Please Wait..." And finally stopped. I finally emailed HP and they will send me the Recovery Disks. I hope that will solve the problems. Thanks once again
