all non microsoft games

      8th May 2004
after updating the current system we cannot play games that arnt made by microsoft. ive been told that it is because we deleted 98 and the games need that to play them. i have also been told i can download somthing so i can play them. does anyone know what it is

just to let u know i am computer eliterate. so askin me what is in my comp i cart tell u.

i cart tell u.

What non-Microsoft games are they?

Windows XP is backwards compatable as have all Windows versions been, 99% of
Windows software should run fine on Windows XP.

Sounds like you didn't *upgrade* Win98, but installed WinXP alongside it.
(Did you have a choice at startup?)
If that's what you did, you may just need to reinstall the games under WinXP
to make sure all the proper files, settings, etc. are in place.

the comp was wiped before xp was installed so 98 wasnot on the system anymore
games are dungeon keeper 2, settlers 3 and caesar 3. but like i said age of empires works

I know for a fact that Caesar III works on XP Pro (clean install) without
any "modifications" to the run scheme.
