My boss had an older computer (main frame) and had problems with two
different printers only printing in an off red. She upgraded to a laptop a
couple of years ago and transfered over to the new computer. She nows has
the same problem on the laptop. Yesterday was the first day I looked at it
and everything from the printer settings to the document settings looked fine
yet there is no obvious solution at hand.

She is running XP pro and pretty much just runs Microsoft programs, the only
programs she usually prints from is Outlook Express and Word.

Check if her black ink cartridge is not empty. Even printing in black
still requires the use of color cartridges.

Run a test page out of the printer and see if that points to the problem.

This is really a strange problem for when I connect my computer to any of the
printers she uses it will print in black and white for me but when we switch
back over to her computer no matter the printer chosen her printouts are in a
off red.

So I do not believe it is the printer that is the problem but rather her
computer that has a problem but what would cause her computer to turn all
printing jobs to red?

It sounds like the color is set wrong in printing preferences. Try
printing in B&W or greyscale. If everything was cloned from one
computer to another, the printer settings would also be transferred.
