Doingthings,
When an object is selected and you type text it will be centered in the
object. You can change that by going to Format - AutoShape - textbox tab -
at the top you can change the alignment. But you will not be able to make
text follow a shape like a curve.
The best thing would be to use WordArt text. You can find it on the drawing
toolbar (look for the large A button). Once you typed the text you can
adjust it using the WordArt toolbar. It won't be easy though.
