Hi I am interested in buying a slide scanner. I did some searching on Ebay
but found that many units are untested or prices too close to full price for
something second hand. Many of the units were scii and drivers were not
available.

While doing some search I came across the "Alestron Optic film and slide
7200 scanner. This unit promiss high resolution and a very good price.
Does anybody have any experience with this unit.

Thanks
Eric

If all you want to do is view the images on a web page, it's probably
fine. It has a modest Dmax for a film scanner, so darker slides/lighter
negs will not show a lot of detail. You can get the same or close with a
decent flatbed. For that price, it likely has plastic gears and other
parts that will wear out fairly quickly so may not be a good deal if you
have a lot of film to scan.
