It seems to have become more pronounced with the new 5.4 catalyst.

capture from TV to xxxx.vcr. then try and convert to a compressed mpeg1, avi,
wmv. Mpeg2 isn't real noticeable.

This assumes you're also using the ATI studio 8 program that came with the
9800 to do the conversions from mpeg2.

The audio trails the video as much as 3 seconds depending on format.
mpeg2 audio trails the video by about 1/4 second.

I've made mpg1 movies with the videowave 2 on a P1 w/166 mhz and 48 megs ram
that were GOOD I may have 1 or two big clips where the audio trails, but
nowhere near what I'm getting now. I'm now trying to do good with a P4 3.2 Ghz,
1 gig ram and getting nowhere.

example The Grease scene 73 megs vcr or Jackie Genie 25 megs vcr from that 70's
show.
mpeg2 went to 75 megs and 27 megs. So compression actually never entered the
picture.
AVI went to 180 megs on grease and was total crap.

Just wondering if the new catalyst may be the source of the problem ? If so any
fixes ?

Revert to CAT 5.2. Newer cat's use digital audio to capture the videos and
have issues with the audio.

Well I never got 5.2. I think my last one was 4.x .
So if it's a known issue [how could they miss it before releasing it ? Need
some more active beta testers...]
Then again , even if they gave me the hardware and software for being a beta
tester I'd probably say no. ATI is almost as bad as any virus. I never get it
installed with the 1st shot. It usually wastes at least 1 day just for a
catalyst install.
