I am having terrific problems getting by ATI AIW 9000 drivers
to load on my Win98se build.
As I was upgrading from an AIW 128Pro, did a full unistall and
rebooted with a standard vga driver just in case.
Whatever I do, with either the 2002 CD version or the latest
Cat 3.8, the 9000 installation just gets so far, then crashes with
either a SURegCreateKey failed message, or an error message that
advises me to retry with an ordinary VGA driver.
Believe me I have tried this AND manually deleted all ATI
files on C: drive, after running the various ATI uninstall exes.
BTW, I notice that the Catalyst Upgrade 'unpacks' itself to an
ATI\support directory, but the files are not in complete form (eg
xxxx.dl_) with the setup exe so can't run a manual install
How did you manually load these drivers please, rather than
via the setupplease?
I've installed the latest SIS AGP driver for my ECS k75sa
board and directx 9 (which the driver asked for at one stage)
Card is working, but is now running in a kind of hybrid state,
PC is running with an AIW9000 and AIW9000-secondary in device drivers,
but all other devices and ATI prgs have failed. Benchmarks are
showing that my beautiful 9000 is running at about 30% slower than the
old 128pro :-)
Any advice gratefully accepted - please!!!!
Kind Regards
Malc
