A few days ago I "upgraded" to the latest Catalyst release
featured on the ATI web site. After a few iterations,
removing all ATI software I could remove, I got the new
Catalyst to run without instantly crashing XP. But it
seems to have forgotten how to make a .mpg file that
Nerovision would accecpt.
I gave up, removed all ATI software that would remove.
I reinstalled the CD that came with my AIW 7500.
Then I upgraded to MMC 7.5. This version stores MPG files
with a .mp2 extension unless I manually changed the file name
(no big deal). But at least it is stable (so far) and has
catpured hours of video at various bit rates into files that
Nero approves of.
Will ATI rediscover the formula for legacy cards such as the
AIW 7500 (still being sold!)?
