Hello!
I bought a PC with Vista Home Premium preinstalled and an intel G33 chipset.
However, SATA mode in BIOS was set to IDE. If I set it to AHCI or RAID, I
would get a BSOD.
So I enabled AHCI driver in Vista in the registry, with no success. I also
tried installing intel Matrix drivers, but the installer says my system does
not meet minimum requirements.
So what do I have to do now to enable AHCI/RAID mode on an installed system?

Enabling AHCI in a system BIOS with Windows Vista already
installed will result in a BSOD if SATA has been running in IDE
mode during Vista's installation. Before enabling AHCI in the BIOS,
users must first follow the instructions found at Microsoft Knowledge
Base article 922976.

Error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer
after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive:
"STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

i did this, but i still get a bsod...

Silly question but did you enable the registry key with a 1 or 0? Usually
enabling is a 1 but in this case enabling needs a 0 value. Also you might
see what driver is currently installed for the HDD controller. Also check
for the presence of system32\drivers\msahci.sys.

by the way, my current storage controller is named "Intel ICH9 Serial Ata
Storage Controller" and it is using atapi.sys, ataport.sys, pciide.sys and
pciidex.sys
so what should happen if i set that registry key to 0, cause here just
nothing changes...

Any experience with whether or not the performance increase is worth the
hassle?
