AGP video more "fussy"",buggy" than PCI?

Hi,
I run XP Pro and 2000 on separate (homebuilt)machines. I ran 2000 for
almost a year without a crash using a PCI card. As soon as I put in an AGP,
I had occasional crashes. The same thing happened with XP pro, which I ran
crash free with the same S3 Virge 3d PCI card for a few months until I put
in an AGP card.
Both motherboards use the Via chipset, both up to date..
Specs:XP Pro-Asus CUV4x-E, Geforce 4 MX440 AGP
Win 2000 Tyan Trinity 1854, ATI Radeon 7200, 32 meg DDR.
Any ideas on this PCI AGP issue? Thanks.

It's the Via AGP drivers...

Mobo GART (Graphics Array Refresh Table) driver installed?
AGP card set as primary display in BIOS?

The Agp card is the only video card, apart from a Pinnacle capture card. As
for the GART, I didn't know of any special driver. Is that installed from
Windows? I used the VIA 4 in one drivers and the video card's driver- the
latest one from ATI is installed.
I just checked Google for .Graphics Array Refresh Table but didn't find
much specific info. I'll also take a look at the AGP data in bios.

That is the GART driver. You get to have fun playing the "4in1 game". Seems
some 4in1 versions work OK with some video driver and not with others. So
you get to download all the various 4in1 drivers written for your chipset
and Video drivers for your card and install them one at a time until you
find a pair that will coexist together.

Thanks. I'll see if that helps.
