Age of Empires II - Attack bug

I just installed Empire on my new computer and for some reason it won't allow
my people to attack at all. Other civilizations attack mine and my fighters
will not fight back at all. I've clicked on other civilizations to attack,
and my fighters just go to where the people want to attack are and then just
stand there (without even fighting back) until they are all massacred. Anyone
know of a bug fix for this or have any suggestions?
