I have a Geforce 2 MX/400 video card on XP Professional. I installed the
40.72 WHQL drivers from NVIDIA and 4 in 1. Everything said it was signed.
After updating to XP SR1 my video drivers as well as 4 in 1 drivers say that
they are not supported. Also, Idle tasks no longer appear in Scheduled task
log.
Does this mean that SR1 is not supported by my PC--or must I update to newer
video drivers and re-install my 4 in 1 VIA drivers to now get XP to
re-recognize video card properly?
Also, in driver updates on Windows update site, there is a video card driver
update of 4.x meg dated May, 2002 listed as a driver update to my video
card. I believe that the 40.72 drivers are newer than May, 2002. Does
anyone know what this update is actually for? Should I try installing it
even though I already installed the 40.72's from NVIDIA?
I was going to try uninstalling & reinstalling my video and 4 in 1
drivers--but I don't want to do this if it is not going to fix anything.
The funny thing is, I am not really having any trouble with my video in
games or playing media at this point, but I do want to make sure that
everything is installed properly since I just reformatted & reinstalled my
system and I don't want to create any problems for myself later by not
having updated my drivers properly.
