after couple of hours of troubleshooting, we identified serious trouble:

Upon update to SP1 on a Office 2007 SBE (OEM), new users cannot use Outlook
as a hidden dialog box disable menus and window minimize/maximize/close box.

This dialog box asking for name and initials disappears in half-second, not
leaving time to even press OK at initial launch.

Then the only way to close Outlook is using Task Manager as File > Exit does
not respond in any way.

This has been observed on all our PC's having SP1 installed.

Workaround :

Uninstall Office 2007

Install Office 2007

Launch Outlook

Eventually apply SP1

Note: as we cannot afford this operation for every login on any PC then
should we wait for a fix to apply SP1 on all machines?

Thanks in advance,

/Patrice

Problem identical to "Outlook unable to close" post
We still fix it by reinstalling Office without SP1

Please help!

There are at least two workarounds:
- Enter Name & Initials on similar dialog on Word before launching Outlook
- Set variables in registry
Can't put hand on numerous replies to same post on public Office newsgroup.

Hope this helps,
/Patrice
