Joining a new domain will automatically create a new user profile, as
the user profile is based upon the "fully qualified" user account name,
which includes the domain name. The "NewDomain\UserName" is a
completely different user account different from the
"OldDomain\UserName," even though the "UserName" portion of both is the
same. However, the "NewDomain\UserName" profile folders would not have
been created and used until the first time you logged in using that account.
You can use your old profile by re-connecting the laptop to the old
domain, and then logging in to the old domain.
You can copy the information from your old profile into the new one:
