This sounds as though you have had a crash, involving a particular stop
code, followed by an automated report to Microsoft.
Can you send us the text of that response you got--or the stop code
involved? There are troubleshooting articles in Microsoft's Knowledge base
for these stop codes.
When you mention updates--did you do updates at WindowsUpdate?
