Hello,

I am aware of the known issue regarding the incorrect page numbers
displaying within the Table of Contents of a Word document after it is
emailed to another person if the document is opened directly from Outlook
with Reading Layout enabled. I am also aware that the fix entails the
recipient to either save the Word document to their hard drive or network
drive prior to opening the file or unchecking the, “Allow starting in Reading
Layout” option within Word.

I’d like to know if there is any information regarding a fix that will not
require the recipient to take the steps mentioned above. So far, the
information I’ve found suggests that no other fix is in the works but I’d
like to ask to know for sure.

As far as I know, there is no workaround besides the one you mention.

The third fix is to have the recipient update the TOC after switching to
another view (click in the TOC and press F9). To reiterate, though, there is
nothing you can do on your end except make suggestions.
