After booting Inactive Title Bar font is changed to BOLD

I like the text on the icons of inactive programs in the taskbar to be
in normal ( I mean "non-bold"). This has been the case for years.
However recently the text is in Bold. The same applies to the clock in
the toolbar.

I have found how to reset this to normal via Display-Advanced-Inactive
Title Bar properties. This works OK. However when I re-boot the font
is back to BOLD. I have found and tried the Taskbar repairtoolPlus in
Kelly's Korner, it does fix the problem for the ongoing session,
however after re-booting I am back to BOLD.

In Safe Mode the same problem happens.

It looks as if "something" is re-setting the font settings I have
chosen. And it appears that this "something" is also active in safe
mode. Idea's anybody?

Thank you

The changes you make are not saved. To save them you need to
save your theme. The data for themes is stored in a text file, with
the extension .theme, not in the registry.

Ju.c, thanks for your explanation. When I change Bold to Normal, I
press 2 times OK to exit the dialogue boxes. I also tried "Apply".
Normally this saves the change, I would have thought. How am I
supposed to save this in the .theme file? Or is the problem that XP
somehow faile to save this file automatically?

Anyway, I will start looking for the .theme file

Right-click the Desktop and on the "Themes" tab click the "Save-As..." button.

All the above did not work. For the record, the following did solve
the problem:

I replaced the file themeui.dll with a backup copy. This did not fix
the problem, I just add this for completeness

I then ran these registry fixes:
restorethemes.reg from Kellys Korner
visualstyle.reg, I believe aloo from Kellys Korner

After re-booting the problem had disappeared
