I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but it's driving me crazy.

I'm running a HP Pavillion a562n and recently added an external
SataVault RAID drive, which I'm booting off, instead of the C drive.
Ever since the switch, I lose my audio device intermittently. Yes, I
tried reinstalling the Realtek 97 software. Also the BIOS sound is
enabled. And I've tried rolling back the driver, and uninstalling
Realtek and then rebooting, which helps sometimes.

Trouble is, I keep losing the audio device, and I'm thinking, could it
be a conflict between my SATA drive (D), and my old internal HP drive
(C)? I'm booting and running off the D Sata drive. Maybe the hardware
driver is looking at the wrong drive? I can't tell.

Thoughts?

Is there anything in the event log that corresponds with losing the
audio device?

Does your sys run/boot when C is diconnected?
This unit is not designed to replace/be used as the o/s boot drive.
