I'm looking for a low-cost printing solution. Even old-tech block printing
is open for consideration, but I'd prefer better.

I noticed I can get 8.5"x11" paper for one cent per 2 sheets from OfficeMax
so I can print my 200 page book for 25 cents each in paper, half-sheet size.
That makes computer printer ink obscene in overprice at say $8 a copy.

Where can I get a printer and ink for a comparable price to paper?

And the counter-intuitive thing is that the more expensive toner cartridges
used in "office quality" laser printers have such a large capacity that they
are even cheaper overall than the cheap cartridges made for cheaper printers.
The printers are cheaper to run than most photo-copiers in fact. The only
thing it's worth getting an inkjet for is colour, and then you have whole
other set of trade-offs to consider -- not at all easy to resolve, as I'm
finding out now that I want to replace two older models as soon as I've used
up the ink cartridges I got on sale a couple months ago.

How many copies are you talking about? One might be tempted
to hire the job out to a professional mass printer.
