I have had major problems with my computer software and I don’t know what to
do. The computer got so bad that I wiped the thing and started again but its
no better.
I can be working away or looking through the
internet and then the screen will go blank and the message displayed is that
it is not receiving a signal. Sometimes before it goes of I get a message
saying something about

ATI software has encountered a problem and needs to close down

Media centre receiver service has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Your video card or drivers are not compatible with media centre

I got the computer new it’s a fujitsu Siemens computer and its about 13
months old. It is fitted with Scaleoview T19-2, Radeon TM X700 and ATI
software if that means anything to anybody. I have had this problem for about
4 weeks and I have been onto the ATI site and loaded the latest drivers. What
else can I do apart from throw the thing out the window.
Please help
Regards
Alan

Did you check to see:
That the Resolution or Refresh rate isn't set to high?
If any cables/cords/wires are loose?
If there is a possible link with a resolution included in Event Viewers error logs?

Test your RAM modules integrity. Run one of the tests for a few hours, less if you
get multiple errors from the start.

Did you get the:
Catalyst® 6.12 Display Driver for Windows XP Media Center Edition
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/mce/radeonx-mce.html

If all of the above appears in order, before reinstalling boot to Safe Mode >
Device Manager and uninstall any/all listed Display devices, close out, reboot an
dreinstall the drivers/software.

Just a thought but were the drivers you downloaded from ATI for the XP media
center edition? I know if you install the regular XP drivers all sorts of
things can go wrong.

The disc’s I used to install the drivers are what the engineer used when he
came and installed the original software so I have no reason to question that
the disc’s are the correct ones. When I wiped the computer and installed the
original software there was a fault with the drivers CD which made the screen
go off again. I loaded the software again and it worked fine but it didn’t
install my graphics card or the ATI software. I had to install this from
there web site.
