Aye, it does seem a little over the top....
until you lose something and it really causes you grief.
I remember storing a lot of WAV files, music I'd painstakingly ripped from vinyl and cassettes on an internal 250Gb Western Digital Hard Drive.
The drive was brand new, it died without warning at three weeks old.
Yes, it was replaced under warranty but those music files took me days, weeks, to convert. All that time wasted for trusting a mechanical device. Stupid, really.
