Advice on building a Dev Box

I have the opportunity to be able to build my own dev machine for my
job since our application development has ramped up so quickly. Right
now I am deploying to prod during off hours and it's crazy.

If you could build a machine for dev purposes - ie a desktop packed to
the gills - what would you do?

Some say Dual Xeon, some say otherwise.

Any advice?
