Hi

I have a spreadsheet which has customer names and data about them such
as country name , state name and city name. It also has details about
type of purchases made.

In another spreadsheet i want to call certain other data about the
customer using the filter criteria. But i dont want to use auto
filters.

In cell a1 of this second spreadsheet i type the country/state/town
name.
In cell b1 of this second spreadsheet i type the type of purchase. Now
these purchase types also have sub classifications. E.g Electronic
gadgets can be a classififcation and dvd player , cell phones etc can
be sub classifications. i can also require to check customers for all
classifications taken together or sum of all.

Now what i want is that suppose i type country India in cell a1 and
type electronic gadgets in cell a2 , excel should return in a4 - a"x"
all customers who have purchased electronic gadgets in india. Now if i
want to narrow down the search lets say i type bangalore in a1 and cell
phones in a2 it should return the names of customers from bangalore
(which is a sub-sub classififcation in country india and state
karnataka) who have purchased mobile phones (which is a sub
classification in electronic gadgets ) in a4 -a"x".

I will use the names of these customers in a4 -a"x" to further extract
data from other locations.Hope i have made myself clear.

Thanks in advance

Manan

Hi!

Although this could be done in Excel it'll take a lot of work and, depending
on how many records there are, could be very slow. This is what databases
are for.
