advanced search fields in Outlook not available

Instant Search works, but when the additional criteria list (e.g., from,
subject, etc.) is opened, all of the fields are greyed out and unavailable.
This is a recent thing - always worked fine previously.

I and a few other colleagues are also having this problem, and hope someone
replies to this question.

We are also experiencing this, but cannot say when it started. Does anyone
know the answer? Thanks!

Under the Instant Search window, there is a message that says "Click here to
enable Instant Search". When you do that, Windows Desktop is loaded onto
your computer, and must be downloaded for those Advanced Search windows to
be available.

Nope. No message of that description is visible.
