Good evening,

My son and I have been playing Ages of Empire for years; it is a game that has inspired my son with its history and dynamic flexibility for the player to create their own. Recently, we bought and attempted to install Ages Of Empires III. It failed to reach the installation and instead produced an error saying that our computer could not process the Advanced Instruction Set or SSE. I am not sure what this is about. I am running an Phoenix Atheon X86 AMD 1200 Mhz; version 2.0. Phy Mem 512MB, V Mem 2.0 GB, HD 40GB.

Am I looking at buying a new motherboard, or is it a software/driver sort of problem?
What is the bottom line?

Thanks.

It's the CPU itself, the game does require SSE, which the Pentium 4s and
Athlon XPs have (but previous Athlon's didn't). An Athlon XP could well fit
your motherboard, which would be a lot easier then a whole new motherboard
jobby.

But for best perforance a new system would probably give better results.
