Why is Advanced Find so incredibly slow in Outlook 2007 compared to Outlook
2003? I'm talking a factor of 5 mins vs under one minute I used to get for
a search in all folders for the same if not fewer emails.

are you using windows desktop search?

Yes, when I installed Outlook 2007 there was no search option - it said I
needed desktop search to search for anything. I found the old Advanced
search later, hidden away in the Toos, Instant Search menu.
How does desktop search effect anything?
