ADSL modem - Win2K or XP beta?

I am preparing to set up a temporary dual-boot with
Windows 98 SE and XP Pro (then hopefully just XP). I have
a 3Com ADSL PCI modem. 3Com provided no XP drivers and my
ISP still only has beta XP drivers. I wonder if I might
ought to try the Windows 2000 drivers on the CD before
attempting to use a beta driver.

Also, should I remove the DSL modem prior to installing
XP?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To clarify, in case anyone reads this, my DSL provider
sent me the modem. On their (BellSouth's) website, they
have the beta XP driver. They mention "further testing"
and not fully supporting PCI modems in XP until the final
drivers are released. That hasn't changed since last year
some time, so I'll be lucky to get a final XP driver.

3Com's site states they won't release drivers beyond
any for Windows 2000. I do have that driver on the modem
installation CD, and simply wondered if it would be more
likely to work than an unfinished product. Once again,
thanks for any suggestions.

I have SBC (southwestern bell) internet with ADSL. you can just use the
dialer built into Windows XP to connect.
