Had BT Broadband ADSL working fine on my Win ME Machine.
Upgraded to XP Pro and now Browsers can't seem to
recognise that i've a permanent Connection. My FTP &
Email Clients know i'm online nad connect away, but both
IE 6 and Netscape 7 don't recognise the connection and try
to dial up.

Everything was working fine before. Any ideas?

thanks!

sounds like DNS issue. can you ping yahoo.com? also try to use nslookup to
check the dns status.

open ie and go into 'tools'->'internet
options'connections' and make sure you have it set to
never dial a connection. at the same time configure the
LAN settings....same thing with Netscape but different
steps....
