Ok, I've tried everything, bringing computer back to
vendor, getting a network technician to come and have a
look, contacting microsoft support etc etc.
No matter what I do, i cannot get my modem to 'correctly'
connect to the internet using ADSL on my new computer with
XP home edition (and service pack).
The network technician came around, used th modem (a
netcomm 1300) on his laptop (with XP professional) and
connected fine (using my telephone line)
Anyway ill try and explain the issue as best i can...
I use eith the software provided by the isp or the modem
company...load it on, restart the computer and plug the
modem into the ADSL port. It then take a LONG time for the
modem to be found, but eventually is and all looks fine,
the green DS icon appears in the tray. BUT wheres the link
to the internet? I am connected to the internet, but there
is no file that connects me to my ISP. On the technicians
laptop there would be an icon and i could enter my
username and password and get connected. But teh
technician reckons that modem is being used and no link is
available to my ISP. He thinks issue with XP home and
servicepack, but could not work it out. Sometiems it does
create an icon, but when i double click it nothing happens!
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I am
paying a monthly fee of $80 with no internet ad the stupid
ISP wont disconnect me while i try and fix it!!!
Please email me at
(E-Mail Removed) if anyone has any
ideas.
Thanks heaps!
