I just want to put in a good word for Adobe Photoshop Album Starter
Edition. It's free (comes with Adobe Acrobat Reader), and one word: it
just works. Very basic, but very slick. I just load up my photo, crop
it, then hit Auto Color, Auto Levels, Auto Contrast and Sharpen. Seems
to have unlimited undo/redo. Great looking app.

http://www.adobe.com/products/photos...m/starter.html

From the website:
Please note: Photoshop Album 2.0 Starter Edition is not a time-limited or
photo-limited version. It contains the basic functionality of the full
Photoshop Album 2.0 product to get you started.

It also says:
This limited-feature version of the full product lets you find your
photos fast, fix common flaws, and share your memories — all for free!

Suppose that means that some would call it crippleware. Myself, I'm off
to d/l it as it sounds just fine for nothing!

From the d/l page:
System requirements
• Intel® Pentium® II or faster processor
• Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, or Windows XP

The line between crippleware and a basic package that can be upgraded is
pretty fine.

For me, crippleware is when a basic function that a competitor has (or would
have) is missing. for instance, in this case if a basic graphics organizer
package couldn't print, then it would be crippleware.

V-Com's basic PowerDesk 5 is also not crippleware IMO. True, it is missing
the built in file viewers that used to be free with OnTrack's V4, but that
is a relatively unique feature not common to file managers in general.

IMO, I would say if the free version provides real value in it's own right.
it is valid freeware. Ifyou have to spend money to get any real value out
of it. then it is crippleware.

I would find it hard to believe that a program that will run on ME
wouldn't run on 98se.

Yea, I tried with my 98se system but the Setup.exe won't have it.
A little tinkering there might enable the install depending on where
it's looking for the OS version.

This is odd, I have two versions, the older version will work on 98SE.
Both are Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0.
The first is dated 9/25/03 and works on 98SE 5,637KB
The second is dated 10/16/03 and does not. 5,721KB

Or try FotoAlbum
