Adobe Flash Player 9 and Windows Media Player

I hope you can help. I installed the free version of the Flash Player 9
and it has made a mess of my computer as far as viewing animation or
videos. We have uninstalled it. Now we can't set Windows Media player
back as our default player and some of the programs I have on my C
drive will not run animation as usual. Of course the Adobe website just
runs in circles and there are no answers there.
Please tell me what I can do!
