I have a document tp put on my site. For some reason the author has submitted the Documen
as a .pdf file, but wants it to appear on the site in non Adobe text version and maintai
all th very neat rows and columns he's created. If I copy in Adobe and paste into Wor
I lose all the formatting. It doesn't matter which paste option I choose I don'
get the result I need. Any thoughts on this ? I mean thoughts other than why does this autho
demand this request. Thanks for any hel

Stev

Going from PDF to anything else is pretty much going to only give you text,
not the layout. There may be add-ons for Acrobat that will do this, but it
won't be free:
http://www.adobe.com/store/products/...ginsForAcrobat

Found this one for RTF conversion:
http://www.adobe.com/store/products/...gins_BCL_Drake
http://www.bcltechnologies.com/docum...rake/drake.htm

Why doesn't the author just send the original document to you?

Acrobat has a feature that lets you select a whole column of text. You'd
have to create similar columns in Word to Paste into. I can't guarantee
exact formatting, though. One option is to bring the PDF it into Adobe
Illustrator and save it as a .SWF (Flash) file. There are some specialized
utilities that do this-they cost- at:

$49.00
and one you can try free for 14 days:

OmniPage Pro 14 does this (as well as being a good OCR program), but
would be inordinately expensive to buy for a one-off. One of your
friends/colleagues may have the program, though.

request the author send you the word document he created the adobe document
from.....
or have him retype the doc in word (if he created the pdf straight in adobe
acrobat).

You may need Adobe Acrobat (full product, not the reader) to edit the document.
