Hello, thanks for reading. I am trying to find some information on an issue
I have had a couple times. I will have a user who calls and says all her
settings are gone. After checking out her system there is a new account
created called <username>.<pcname> jsmith.computer1. The user account
<username> jsmith is still there with all the users orginal settings, but it
is now looking at a new user account that was created out of the blue. I
can log the user out, login as someone else and rename the account, but the
system itself is now set to always login with the jsmith.computer1. I can
also just copy the users information from jsmith to jsmith.computer1 and
everything works fine again, but then I have account entries in the
Documents and Settings that I do not want or need there. I am interested in
any information on why this happens, fixes for this and any documentation/KB
articles anyone has seen. I have found a couple, but nothing too exciting.
Thanks again.

Sorry, the name is not descriptive. In one instance it was the
administrator account in the other it was the user account, but the issue
was identical. Thanks!

In news:(E-Mail Removed),
Dave Patrick <(E-Mail Removed)> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

Yip...

The information here should be pretty much the same for 2k...

Corrupted Profile: Windows XP :
http://kgiii.info/windows/XP/general...ptprofile.html

It *should* be pretty much the same. As I look over it I can't think of or
see anything that's different really.
