I am using Windows XP SP 3. Can I delete adminpak.msi? I read somewhere
that XP doesn't use it. Just want to know if it's safe to blow it away.
Thanks

The file 'adminpak.msi' is for the installation of the Windows Server
2003 management tools and *can* be installed onto a WinXP machine, if
you want to...

However, since you are [probably] not a systems administrator, working
in a mixed Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 environment (extract from
Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack download details) that you
will never have need of them.

So, yes, I would feel free to delete it - a.s.a.p.

You don't delete things, you uninstall them.

Why is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (?) Administration Tools Pack installed
to begin with? Is it listed in Add/Remove Programs?

To the best of my knowledge, it does not seem to be installed, so I cannot
"uninstall" it. However, I have a file in my Windows directory called
adminpak.msi. That is what I would like to "delete".

Read this:

It wouldn't be installed if there wasn't an application dependent on it so
I'd say leave well enough alone.
