The (only) administrator of an ACCESS2000 database has
left the company - and cannot be contacted. Noone else has
Admin rights. Is there a way of opening the database and
assigning admin rights to someone else?

Do you know if there is a separate workgroup security file
for the database (i.e. system.mdw)? Look at the target
line of the desktop icon that opens the database. You
should see a switch /wrkgrp (path)\(filename).mdw - this
would be the workgroup security file for the database.
Sometimes you get lucky and can open this file and see the
admin login.
