I bought a used laptop at a garage sale but since I don't
know what the password for the previous user was, I can't
add any programs to the computer. How can I make myself
the administrator and my own password so I can add
programs?

See tip 1984 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com to reset the admin
password.
