I have recently installed my FP98 onto my laptop so that I may make changes
while away from home. I am trying to upload my website and it asks me for a
username and password that I either do not know or does not work. this is
before it is even looking at the website. Is there a way around this or a
reset?

It's asking for the user name and password for your domain account on the
server.

I use the password and login that I use when I login through the host
software, i know it works there. This was the very first time using FP on
this computer and i cannot get past the import wizard.

Open the web site in Internet Explorer. Choose Edit With Microsoft Office
Front page. You will be prompted for the user name and password for the
server.
Then PUBLISH the site to a Web folder on your laptop specifying all files.
