I am trying to install an updated driver for my laptop's DVD drive, however, when I run the .exe file, I get the following message:

"You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrators account."

Well the problem is that I am in the administrators account (the stealthy one that doesn't appear when using the welcome screen).

I've even tried to run the update under an existing profile that has administrator rights.

How do I fix this?

Sorry. This message board doesn't seem to like quotation marks.

Here is the actual message ....

You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrator account.

You may be an "administrators" but in windows, the "administrator" is a
diffrent
account, the s makes a big diffrence sometimes. What sets a pc to require the
administrator instead of letting one of the admistrators account have all
functions
is any ones guess.Either way,dvds/cds drivers are already installed, the
only up-
dates that one might need in xp would be the firmware update for the
device....
