Help..In trying to assign another user administration privileges my

Doubt it 'deletes'... It will not be shown on the Welcome Screen though.

Windows XP Professional (or superset) I assume?
At the welcome screen, after creating your other administrative user
account, when you no longer see the "administrator" user - simply press
CTRL+ALT+DEL twice and enter the username "administrator" and the password
for that user there - classic logon.

Want the user to be seen onthe welcome screen? Tweak UI can help you choose
who can/cannot be seen.

The Administrator account disappears from the Welcome screen as soon as
there is another user account. This is by design, but you can turn on the
display of the Administrator account. TweakUI is helpful.

However, it's not really a great idea to do this as that account should be
reserved for emergency maintenance. You should use other Admin-level
accounts, and never use the actual Administrator account as a general user
account.

Just create another account, and give it Administrator rights. Migrate the
documents and mail files to it.

As you've discovered, once any additional user accounts have been
created, the built-in Administrator account will no longer be displayed
on the Welcome Screen. This is a default security feature.

The built-in Administrator account really was never intended to be
used for day-to-day normal use. The standard security practice is to
rename the account, set a strong password on it, and use it only to
create another account for regular use, reserving the Administrator
account as a "back door" in case something corrupts your regular account(s).

By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of
WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing
CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login
dialog box.

A wiser course of action would be to create another user account
for your daily use (as you've done), and copy desired the files and
settings from the Administrator account to this newly created user profile.
