Dear All,

Today I discovered something which is wierd and new for me : Adminsitrative
Shares are'nt anymore in the registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares.

I do not have the Autosharewks nor AutoShareServer set to 0. In fact they
are'nt present.

By the way everything works fine and "Net Share" shows all the
Administrative Shares : IPC$ Admin$ C$ D$ etc.
I could MAP C$ etc...

severall weeks ago they were presents in the registry. Now they have
disappeared.

This happen on my two boxes (WinXP/SP2 full updated/patched)
I saw also at work on Win2K3/SP1 that they have disapeared.

Any explanation there ?
Could you look on your boxes ?

I repeat : Everything works as usual. Just want to know/Understand

François

Why worry? If the shares are accessible then there is no reason
for concern! Do you check every Windows parameter to ensure
that it contains the registry setting you believe it should contain?
I suspect that the registry location you mention is not correct
anyway - see here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318755

Pegasus,

I'm not running Win2K. This article applies to Winnt/Win2K. there is no more
Poledit.
Secondly Hidden Share Are just working fine, so no need to applies the
Registry trick mentionned. Only They disappears from the registry.
It was my way to make a Backup of those Shares that is not possible anymore.
I just like to understand how is running my Box.

François
