Addresses in "Address Bar"

My IE6 on WinXP has recently stopped showing the previously entered web
addresses that I've typed into the address bar.
It formerly showed a drop down list of a dozen or more addresses, but now
only shows two or three.
Any ideas how I can alter it to show more?
Thanks in advance,
John

There are number of programs out there (Adaware, Spybot, etc.) that clean out the list of typed
URL's, (even IE6 has a tool to do that.) Now you are seeing the new typed URLs.

However, learn to make favorites, not rely of the past history of typed URLs to go back to previous,
or favorite web sites.
That Typed URL list will change, but your Favorites list will not.

Hi,
That's the TypedURLs list, stored in the registry. It will store a maximum
of 25 URLs.

Old article with some information:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=157729

As Richard advised, a third-party program may be clearing the list. The list
is also cleared if you clear Recent Documents by right-clicking the Taskbar>
Properties> Start Menu> Customize> Remove records of recently accessed
documents etc. The TypedURLs list is sometimes cleared when a third-party
security/privacy program clears the Run or Recent Documents list.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks for all the advice. I think it must have been my "Ad-Aware" prog.
that cleared the typed URLs.

Hi,
You're welcome. If the problem persists/returns you may have to carefully
examine settings of other security/privacy programs. It may take some
digging. ;-)
