The address "field" no longer drops down to see previous visited websites.
When I click on the down error IE sometimes goes to the non responding mode.
This recently occurred. Can you help?

You might try this but if not relevant, try a post of your own with
details.

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install
security update MS06-015 (15 Apr-06)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918165

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-015.mspx has
been revised to v1.1 to reflect the issues in KB918165 and now points
to the KB918165.

Now may not be the time to learn Regedit.
I suggest you use a .reg file already done for the purpose.

http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads...are-To-Web.zip

Unzip it, extract the .reg file to a folder, right-click it and select
Merge and confirm when asked.

I have the same issue with my Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. I am
also unable to save files in all my Office 2003 applications. All my other
programs (Netscape, Adobe, etc.) doesn't seem to have same problems. I am
desparately searching for a solution to this pesty problem.
